COVID-19

September 19th, 2023

We have seen a slight uptick in COVID hospitalizations and outbreaks locally.  Advice remains the same:

  • Use at-home tests if you’ve been exposed or have symptoms
  • Stay home if you’re sick.
  • Follow recommended precautions.
  • Do things that boost your immune system such as eating a healthy diet and exercising if you can.
  • If you are high risk or want to wear a mask in public, please do.
  • If you do test positive, isolate/quarantine from others for at least 5 days from symptom onset or positive test (whichever came first).  If you are very sick, contact your primary care provider or seek care at a local urgent care.
  • Contact us to speak to one of our Infectious Disease Epidemiologists if you have questions about COVID at 541-440-3571.
  • Be sure to be up to date on your vaccinations.
    • The new COVID booster is available in Douglas County at several pharmacies.  Getting your booster will help reduce the likelihood of severe symptoms and hospitalizations.

Note: we demobilized our COVID hotline in June. Please call 541-440-3571 if you have COVID questions and want to speak to one of our Epidemiologists directly.

May 23, 2023

We will no longer be reporting new COVID cases or deaths for Douglas County.  The Oregon Health Authority updated the investigative guidelines and labs are no longer required to report COVID cases, therefore surveillance of new cases has changed. We have also demobilized our COVID Hotline, if you have questions about COVID please contact our office at 541-440-3571.

COVID-19 remains a threat and we still recommend:
  • Being up to date on your vaccinations
  • Use at-home tests if you’ve been exposed or have symptoms
  • Stay home if you’re sick
  • Follow recommended precautions
  • Contact us to speak to one of our Infectious Disease Epidemiologists if you have questions about COVID at 541-440-3571
