Douglas County Immunization Rates

Below is a link to a PDF with the annual rates for two-year olds.

Oregon immunization rates measure vaccination levels among two-year-olds in a given year. Rates are based on ALERT Immunization Information System (IIS) data for all two-year-olds with an Oregon address and a post-birth immunization record. In the past, rates were adjusted based on estimates of missing data but we have discontinued that process because the system is so well populated. Over 95% of all childhood immunizations given in Oregon since 1999 are in ALERT and reporting levels are even higher in recent years.

posted in: Uncategorized | 0

For the 2017 School Exclusion process Douglas Public Health Network identified 800 students who were incomplete and 110 with no record. The number of exclusion letters sent to parents declined by over 18% from 2016 to 2017. The final immunization rates for 2016 showed that Douglas County has the 11th highest immunization rate for kindergartners among Oregon’s 34 counties.

Data regarding how many students were actually excluded will be added after February 15, 2017, which is Oregon’s School Exclusion day for anyone not caught up on immunizations.

School Exclusion – Immunization Deadline 2-17-15

posted in: Uncategorized | 0

Is your child immunized?

School aged children not immunized by 02.17.2016 will be asked to complete their required immunizations prior to returning to school, preschool, Head Start, or certified day care facilities. Once evidence of having the required immunizations can be provided to their school, children will be allowed to return to school.

If you believe your child is exempt from this immunization requirement, please be sure that your exemption documentation is correct and up to date.

You can expect to receive a letter by February 3rd letting you know what immunizations your child may still need. This is also a great opportunity for you to bring your child in for a well child checkup.

School law does not require all immunizations recommended in Oregon.  Please talk with your doctor about what vaccinations are appropriate for your child.

Some locations to get your child’s immunizations completed in addition to your child’s regular doctor are:

Umpqua Community Health Center is providing drop in vaccinations at their clinics:

Roseburg:  Monday – Friday from 9 am to Noon and 1 to 4 pm

Sutherlin:  Monday – Thursday from 1 to 4 pm

Myrtle Creek:  Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday from 1 to 4 pm

Central Coast Community Health has walk in clinics on Fridays from 9 am to 3 pm at the Douglas County Reedsport Annex at 680 Fir Street.

Many Pharmacies are an option TDAP for children ages 11 and up.  We recommend the parent call their pharmacy to confirm availability.
