Please allow 2-4 days for delivery and longer for out of state.THE POSITION:Essential Functions of the Job: Provides skilled public health services at home, clinic, or other settings to clients in areas of adult, child and prenatal health, family planning, communicable disease. Interview client, family, and others’, gather medical history, conduct examination and lab work, assess needs, environment and existing treatment; plan and administer immunizations, treatment and medication, monitor results. NOTE:Regular and consistent attendance required. Hours of work are during normal business hours and may require occasional evenings and weekends. Travel to satellite sites throughout Douglas County is expected. Occasional overnight travel for meetings may be required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS : Must possess current Oregon Registered Nurse License. Preference will be given to those with Bachelor’s degree in nursing with coursework emphasis in public health and experience in a public health setting. At time of appointment: must possess a valid Oregon driver’s license and be able to pass a criminal background check.
In addition to the above, applications will receive further evaluation based on the following:Knowledge of: professional nursing theories, principles, practices and procedures as applied to community health nursing services; knowledge of basic medications provided in a community health nursing,. Skill in : interviewing and counseling techniques, skill in planning and administering immunizations, medications and performing lab tests, skill in use of computers and office equipment; use of medical assessment equipment. Ability to : Communicate effectively in both oral and written forms; make decisions independently in accordance with established policies, and use initiative and judgment in carrying out tasks and responsibilities; establish and maintain records, patient charts, reports, and statistical data; represent program in a variety of settings; maintain confidentiality; remain calm and use good judgment during confrontational or high pressure situations; courteously meet and deal effectively with coworkers, children and families, federal and state agencies, consultants, medical providers, community groups and the public.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT : Work will require bending, keyboarding, lifting and carrying up to 15 pounds (occasionally up to 60 lbs.), manipulating equipment, reaching, sitting, standing, stooping and walking, driving. Work is typically performed under reasonably good working conditions. Work requires continuous/concentrated mental and/or visual attention and alertness and is performed in a safety-conscious manner at all times.
